- •Ginkgo Datapoints is building AI-backed biotechnology breakthroughs by leveraging Ginkgo’s automation and digital infrastructure to accelerate drug discovery.
- •The Small Molecules team seeks a synthetic organic chemist to support computationally enabled synthetic chemistry, connecting route design, synthesis, reaction prediction, and automated experimentation.
- •Key Responsibilities Design, select, and execute multi-step routes to novel drug-like compounds under real constraints.
- •Apply a broad synthetic-organic chemistry toolkit, owning purification and characterization.
- •Use computer-aided synthesis planning, retrosynthesis, and reaction-condition tools routinely.
- •Feed practical outcomes and corrected synthetic judgment back into planning and prediction workflows.
- •Record every campaign in structured, machine-readable form.
- •Requirements Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related field, plus 3 years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience; or M.S. with 6 years, or B.S. with 9 years.
- •Demonstrated ability to design and execute multi-step syntheses and deliver compounds on schedule.
- •Independent route-design judgment supported by a broad synthetic-organic reaction toolkit and strong purification/characterization skills.
- •Routine hands-on use of computer-aided synthesis planning or retrosynthesis tools.
- •Fluency with chemical structure and reaction data.
