How Rocketlist works
We find startup jobs from public sources, AI-read every description for skills and seniority, and score every job against your profile — free for candidates.
Where the jobs come from
Sources we use
- Public ATS APIs from: Greenhouse, Ashby, Workable, Lever, Personio, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Join
- Public investor portfolio pages
- Public company careers pages
Example investors whose portfolios we monitor
We monitor publicly listed portfolio companies from top-tier venture investors — for example Sequoia, a16z, Accel, Index Ventures, Atomico, Balderton, Y Combinator, and Cherry Ventures. These investors do not endorse Rocketlist; we only read their public portfolio pages.
What we don't do
- We don't pull jobs from LinkedIn or any other social network
- We don't access private data or any source that requires login
- We don't claim partnerships we don't have
- We don't sell your data — candidates are always free
How we read each job
- Every job description is read once by an AI model (Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite)
- It outputs structured fields: required skills, nice-to-have skills, seniority level, salary range (if mentioned), domain, role type
- All values come from a fixed taxonomy — so "JS" and "Javascript" become the same canonical skill, and you don't miss matches because of spelling
- This happens once per job. We don't re-read jobs on every search.
How we score matches
- We compare your profile (skills, experience, domains, preferences) to every active job
- Deterministic matching — no black-box vector cosine. You can see exactly which of your skills matched, which were missing, and which were nice-to-have
- Every job is scored 0–100. The "For You" feed shows score ≥ 70.
- Full scoring takes <10 seconds per candidate
