About the role
TL;DR
Founding Legal Counsel to build the legal foundation for a growing AI company.
- •Basis AI is seeking its first in-house Legal Counsel to establish the legal framework for its rapid growth.
- •This role involves managing a wide array of commercial and corporate legal matters, working closely with leadership and various internal teams.
- •Key Responsibilities Review, draft, and negotiate customer and vendor agreements, and improve contracting systems.
- •Support corporate governance, including cap table management, board approvals, and fundraising.
- •Advise on strategic partnerships and other business arrangements.
- •Partner with the People team on personnel matters, including employment agreements and policies.
- •Requirements 2-5 years of experience in corporate or commercial law at a leading law firm.
- •JD from a top law school and good standing with at least one US state bar.
- •Experience with commercial agreements (SaaS, vendor, NDAs, etc.) and corporate law (governance, capitalization, equity, financing).
- •Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to explain complex legal issues practically.
