TL;DR
Owns collision avoidance safety for humanoid robots, driving safety analysis and requirements.
- •Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots and is seeking a Staff Systems Safety engineer to own the collision avoidance safety case for humanoid robot platforms.
- •This role reports directly to the Head of Safety and Certification.
- •Key Responsibilities Own the collision avoidance safety case from hazard identification through validation and field monitoring.
- •Lead Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, STPA, FMEA, and fault tree analysis for perception, planning, and actuation subsystems.
- •Define and validate safety requirements for object/human detection, tracking, intent prediction, and fallback behaviors.
- •Develop Functional Safety Concepts, Requirements, and Technical Safety Requirements for Collision Avoidance features.
- •Develop test cases for verification and validation of Collision Avoidance systems.
- •Requirements B.S. in Engineering with a focus on optics, vision pipeline, and image processing. 5+ years in safety engineering for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other safety-critical human-interactive systems.
- •Working knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 13849, ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, IEC 61508, UL 4600).
- •Experience with safety analysis methods: STPA, FMEA, FTA.
- •Evidence of hands-on engineering work
- •test benches, measurement, and root-cause analysis.
