- •Nubank is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the technical direction of its recommendation systems.
- •This hands-on role involves shaping how Nubank builds and deploys ML systems at scale, focusing on retrieval, ranking, and multi-objective optimization pipelines.
- •Key Responsibilities Set technical direction for recommendation systems, making architecture decisions for future development.
- •Design and build production ML systems for retrieval, ranking, and multi-objective optimization at scale.
- •Lead technically demanding projects from design through production rollout.
- •Partner with applied scientists to move models from research into production.
- •Raise the technical bar for the team through design reviews, mentoring, and promoting best practices.
- •Requirements Strong track record building and operating large-scale ML systems in production, ideally recommendation or ranking systems.
- •Experience building modern recommendation systems (e.g., learned embeddings, sequence models).
- •Deep experience with the full ML engineering lifecycle (training, deployment, monitoring, experimentation).
- •Strong software engineering fundamentals and fluency in Python and/or Scala.
- •Real experience with the operational side of ML (on-call, incident response).
