TL;DR
Design high-voltage substations and switchyards for next-generation data centers.
- •Hut 8 is expanding its High Voltage Engineering team to support the development of next-generation AI and high-performance computing data centers.
- •This role involves the technical design of utility interconnection substations and transmission switchyards.
- •Key Responsibilities Develop electrical and physical designs for high-voltage substations and switchyards (34.5 kV–345 kV).
- •Prepare engineering calculations including short-circuit studies, grounding analysis, and lightning protection.
- •Specify and coordinate major equipment such as power transformers and gas circuit breakers.
- •Support factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
- •Requirements B.S. in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in high-voltage substation engineering.
- •Strong experience designing substations from 34.5 kV through 345 kV.
- •Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and applicable utility standards.
- •PE license preferred (or ability to obtain).
