About the role
TL;DR
Engineer multimodal sensing and fusion systems for defense AI applications.
- •Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies.
- •This role involves architecting and owning the multimodal perception front-end that integrates various sensor data into a coherent input for Helsing's AI.
- •Key Responsibilities Define multimodal sensing architecture, integrating EO/LWIR cameras, radar, LiDAR, and IMUs.
- •Own sensor synchronisation using PTP/gPTP, PPS, and hardware triggers.
- •Develop sensor calibration procedures, including intrinsic, extrinsic, spatial, and temporal calibration.
- •Define safety concepts for the sensing subsystem, drawing on defence and automotive functional-safety practices.
- •Drive system design and architecture, defining interfaces and data pipelines from sensor to AI.
- •Requirements M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- •Proven track record building multimodal sensing or sensor-fusion systems.
- •Understanding of system-level synchronisation (PTP/gPTP, PPS, hardware triggers).
- •Mastery of sensor calibration (intrinsic, extrinsic, spatial, temporal).
- •Ability to derive safety concepts for sensing subsystems.
