About the role
TL;DR
Provide legal guidance on product development and commercialization for innovative technologies.
- •Cloudflare is seeking a lawyer with a passion for new technologies to join the Product Counsel team.
- •The Product Counsel team serves as the frontline legal contact and helps solve some of the company’s thorniest issues.
- •As a member of the team, you’ll wear many hats and lead cross-functional projects with meaningful impact.
- •Key Responsibilities Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for fast-moving product and engineering teams.
- •Proactively assess legal risks and advise product, engineering and business teams building services that reshape how information moves across the Internet.
- •Draft terms of service, disclosures, policies, and related processes.
- •Apply privacy-by-design principles and partner with the privacy team on data-flow reviews.
- •Solicit invention disclosures, support patent strategy, and protect Cloudflare’s trade secrets.
- •Requirements JD degree with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably with technology companies.
- •Ability to provide legal advice in a way that understands and advances strategic business goals.
- •Experience with copyright law and Internet law is desired (e.g., AI Act, Data Act, net neutrality, DMCA, CFAA).
- •Strong communication skills and cooperative team player.
