About the role
TL;DR
Build and run the content engine for a fast-growing infrastructure company.
- •Blacksmith is building infrastructure to run CI workloads extremely fast, helping companies significantly improve their GitHub Actions performance and cost-efficiency.
- •They are extending this CI infrastructure into a broader platform for agent sandboxes and background coding agents.
- •Key Responsibilities Build and manage the content engine to translate launches and engineering work into high-quality technical content.
- •Design launch narratives and playbooks for new products and features, working closely with the Product team.
- •Identify and write compelling customer success stories that resonate with engineers.
- •Set the standard for technical content in the category through deep dives, benchmarks, and comparisons.
- •Extend content reach across various formats including video, YouTube, docs, and conference talks.
- •Requirements 5+ years of experience writing for a technical audience (developer media, technical content marketing, DevRel, or engineering journalism).
- •Proven track record of publishing content that gains traction (e.g., front page of Hacker News, widely shared posts).
- •Ability to deeply understand technical concepts and present them credibly.
- •Skill in extracting stories from engineers and translating technical details into engaging content.
- •A strong point of view and willingness to publish arguable content.
- •Highly engaged with online developer communities and trends (Hacker News, X, etc.).
- •Ability to work with autonomy and self-direct content strategy.
