About the role

TL;DR

Lead the design and analysis of fusion engine components for Inertia’s power plant.

  • Lead the design and analysis of components and structures for Inertia’s fusion power plant.
  • Key Responsibilities Develop mechanical design and 3D modeling of fusion engine systems.
  • Lead mechanical design and thermal-structural analysis of key components.
  • Evaluate effects of cyclic heat flux, creep loading, and fatigue loading.
  • Conduct thermal and structural analyses and parametric studies.
  • Participate in design reviews and risk matrix development.
  • Support and mentor other engineers.
  • Requirements Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, Nuclear, Structural or a related engineering discipline. 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis.
  • Expert-level skills in mechanical design and CAD.
  • Expertise in finite element analysis using ANSYS or Abaqus.
  • Knowledge of FEA and other spatial/time discretization techniques.
  • Familiarity with numerical material models for metallic systems.
  • Experience with alloys, high temperatures, high heat fluxes, and irradiation effects.
