- •PayZen is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, a senior individual contributor responsible for working across multiple systems on open-ended problems in close collaboration with peers.
- •Your impact will extend beyond your individual workstream.
- •You will work across Care Finance's provider and partner platform, ensuring reliability under HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2 controls.
- •Key Responsibilities Set the craft standard by bringing expert craft and systems thinking, teaching others, and leveraging AI-native approaches.
- •Identify high-impact problems others miss and shape solutions that strengthen PayZen's data asset.
- •Drive workstreams end-to-end, setting milestones, sequencing work for early value delivery, and proactively unblocking others.
- •Shape product direction cross-functionally and adjust approaches without losing momentum.
- •Coach peers, give actionable feedback, and advocate for strong candidates during hiring.
- •Build tools and systems that create structural leverage for the team, multiplying impact.
- •Requirements 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- •Expert craft and strong systems thinking across multiple systems or surfaces.
- •Track record of finding high-impact problems and driving solutions end-to-end.
- •Experience setting ambitious milestones and sequencing work for early value delivery.
- •Hands-on proficiency in at least one of Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript; daily code writing and review.
- •Experience building tools or shared systems that enhance team velocity.
- •Working knowledge of application security and compliance-regulated environments; HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2 exposure preferred.
- •Habit of coaching peers and giving actionable feedback.
