- •Handshake is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to drive the technical direction for AI systems powering career navigation, job search, recommendations, and personalized notifications.
- •This role is crucial for developing innovative, responsible AI solutions that guide students from education to career opportunities.
- •Key Responsibilities Define the technical strategy and system design for ML models and infrastructure across search, recommendation, notifications, and embeddings.
- •Set technical standards and best practices for model development, experimentation, and production deployment.
- •Translate ambiguous business problems into a clear technical roadmap and drive alignment across stakeholders.
- •Build and ship high-leverage models and systems, and unblock the team on complex technical problems.
- •Requirements 8+ years of experience in machine learning or data science with a track record of owning large-scale, production ML systems.
- •Deep expertise in Python and ML frameworks like scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- •Experience in recommendations, personalization, NLP, deep learning, LLMs, or explainable AI.
- •Familiarity with the ML lifecycle (experiment tracking, model monitoring, feature pipelines) at scale.
- •Demonstrated ability to architect and scale ML infrastructure in a high-traffic cloud production environment.
