About the role
TL;DR
Builds and owns the end-to-end video pipeline for a cutting-edge checkout experience.
- •Mashgin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the software that runs their kiosks and powers the extensive infrastructure behind them.
- •This role involves end-to-end ownership of customer-facing products that drive direct business impact and shape the company's long-term technical vision.
- •Key Responsibilities Develop a 0-to-1 video pipeline, from capturing feeds to encoding and distribution.
- •Make critical decisions on video codecs, encoding formats, and streaming protocols.
- •Design and implement pragmatic architecture with incomplete information, iterating as needed.
- •Collaborate with hardware and ML teams to define and build new features.
- •Address real-world challenges of store hardware, network connections, and physical sites.
- •Requirements 5+ years of relevant coding experience with a track record of shipping production code.
- •Strong Python skills and ability to pick up other languages/tools.
- •Hands-on experience with video codecs, encoding, and streaming protocols.
- •Experience with both edge/device code and cloud services.
- •Proven ability to build systems from scratch (0-to-1 projects).
