About the role
TL;DR
Lead the architecture and implementation of secure, high-scale artifact serving systems.
- •Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture and implementation of their Repository team's core systems, focusing on package registries, APIs, and production services that securely serve artifacts at high scale and reliability.
- •This is an infrastructure-heavy backend role at the intersection of software engineering and production infrastructure.
- •Key Responsibilities Own the technical direction for key parts of Chainguard Repository, including customer-facing registries and APIs.
- •Design, build, and operate high-availability backend services in Go.
- •Lead work on scalability, reliability, observability, and load testing for production systems.
- •Drive technical decisions around repository architecture and operational patterns.
- •Partner closely with engineers across teams to create a cohesive repository experience.
- •Requirements 8+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
- •Strong Go experience, or deep backend systems experience with the ability to ramp quickly in Go.
- •Experience building or operating customer-facing infrastructure like package registries or artifact repositories.
- •Experience deploying and managing services in production with strong judgment around reliability and performance.
- •Comfort working across application and infrastructure layers, including cloud infrastructure and IaC tools like Terraform.
