TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale foundational systems for WHOOP App.
- •WHOOP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Core team to build foundational backend systems that power the WHOOP App and enhance member experiences for fitness, sleep, and recovery.
- •Key Responsibilities Lead design and implementation of backend capabilities for scalability and reliability.
- •Drive technical planning for complex initiatives, identifying risks and tradeoffs.
- •Deliver high-impact platform capabilities balancing quality and business priorities.
- •Establish and evolve backend engineering standards.
- •Mentor engineers and grow technical capabilities.
- •Requirements Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
- •Deep expertise in backend development (Java, API design, distributed systems, Postgres).
- •Experience designing scalable, reliable systems using cloud-native and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
- •Strong engineering judgment balancing technical quality and business priorities.
- •Experience writing well-tested, maintainable software and establishing best practices.
