About the role
TL;DR
Lead and grow a Voice Platform engineering team while contributing technically to telecom infrastructure.
- •Weave is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and scale our Voice Platform team, balancing people leadership with hands-on technical contributions in cloud-based telecom architecture.
- •You will ensure our distributed voice platform is robust, scalable, and observable using core components like Kamailio, RTPengine, FreeSWITCH, and Homer/HEPIC.
- •Key Responsibilities Provide people leadership, mentorship, and career growth management for engineers.
- •Contribute to designing, writing, and reviewing code for Golang microservices and SIP/RTP infrastructure.
- •Set architectural vision and technical ownership for scaling our cloud-based VoIP platform.
- •Hire and retain top engineering talent.
- •Optimize and troubleshoot FreeSWITCH and Kamailio configurations.
- •Requirements Proven experience in people leadership or technical team leadership.
- •Staff-level technical expertise in VoIP and SIP engineering, including Kamailio, FreeSWITCH, RTPengine, and Homer.
- •Hands-on programming capability in Go (Golang) and scripting tools (Python, Bash, LUA).
- •Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, and protocols (SIP, RTP, RTCP, TLS, ICE, STUN, TURN, WebRTC).
- •Experience operating production services in cloud environments (GCP preferred) and Kubernetes.
