- •Spotify is seeking a Director of ML Engineering to lead the Conversation Product Area, focusing on building the core intelligence layer for audio discovery and experience.
- •This role involves driving technical direction for agent engines, evaluation infrastructure, and voice platforms.
- •Key Responsibilities Own engineering execution and technical direction for the Conversation Product Area, including Agent Engine, evaluation infrastructure, Search platform, and AI Voice platform.
- •Manage a team of approximately 70 engineers, including Senior Engineering Managers and Staff/Principal engineers.
- •Drive the migration of existing agentic infrastructure onto the shared Agent Engine.
- •Define and own the technical strategy for Spotify's first-party voice investment.
- •Set and enforce engineering quality standards for AI-assisted development.
- •Requirements Deeply technical with the ability to evaluate architecture proposals and contribute technically.
- •Experience running large engineering orgs through platform consolidations, migrations, or evolutions.
- •Experience with at least two of: LLM-based agent systems, evaluation/eval-infrastructure design, large-scale retrieval or search systems, or speech/voice ML systems.
- •Experience managing managers and building a scalable management structure.
- •Track record of building strong, nimble teams and adapting to changing priorities.
