- •Key Responsibilities Own and scale meaningful distributed systems within Prefect Cloud, including orchestration, APIs, and data paths.
- •Apply expertise in query engines and data processing to optimize task planning, execution, and observation.
- •Bring strong technical judgment to ambiguous problems and make tradeoffs visible.
- •Work directly from product and customer context, acting as a self-starter to shape problems and solutions.
- •Lead operationally mature work, including writing maintainable code, building for reliability, and participating in incident response.
- •Requirements Senior-level backend or systems engineering experience with a track record of owning large-scale distributed systems.
- •Meaningful experience with query engines, analytical databases, streaming systems, or distributed data-processing runtimes.
- •Strong computer science and distributed systems fundamentals.
- •Proficiency in production Python, with prior systems experience in Python, Rust, Go, C++, or Java.
- •Strong product instincts and comfort operating in a fast-moving, low-process environment.
