TL;DR
Staff Engineer to re-architect MongoDB Cloud Storage Layer, building performant distributed storage services.
- •The Storage Layer Services team is re-architecting MongoDB Cloud Storage Layer, building performant multi-tenant distributed storage services.
- •This role is based in Sydney, Australia, with a hybrid working model.
- •Key Responsibilities Deliver on goals spanning 6-18 month timeframes and define the roadmap for the next 12 months.
- •Write well-tested, production-ready code in Rust and act as a force multiplier across the organization.
- •Investigate performance regressions, guide complex changes, and champion a culture of operational excellence.
- •Help cultivate talent through interviewing, mentoring, and knowledge sharing, and handle time-sensitive customer escalations.
- •Propose and advocate for high-impact projects, driving consensus on complex issues affecting multiple teams.
- •Requirements 10+ years of experience in programming, debugging, and performance tuning highly concurrent and/or distributed systems, with experience in systems languages like C, C++, or Rust.
- •Track record as an effective technical leader, comfortable reasoning about highly concurrent, asynchronous services.
- •Solid grasp of systems fundamentals such as cache management, log-based recovery, transactions, or performance profiling.
- •Experience with large, highly available, scalable, and performant systems (databases, cloud storage, etc.).
- •Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers.
