- •Instacart is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead foundational platform initiatives on the Orders Platform team.
- •This role will drive the architectural strategy for systems supporting hundreds of millions of transactions annually, focusing on reliability, correctness, and scalability.
- •Key Responsibilities Lead multi-team initiatives to improve the Orders platform's reliability and scalability.
- •Define and drive the technical strategy for the order lifecycle, including state machines and service contracts.
- •Architect and evolve event-driven, idempotent workflows for core order flows.
- •Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver durable platform capabilities.
- •Modernize and extend the platform for improved consistency, multi-tenancy, and failure isolation.
- •Requirements 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale backend or platform systems.
- •Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional technical initiatives end to end.
- •Strong foundation in distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and high-volume APIs.
- •Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python.
- •Production experience with relational and NoSQL data stores.
