- •Figma is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the Application Platform team.
- •This role focuses on building shared foundations that enable engineers to ship backend product work quickly, safely, and reliably.
- •Key Responsibilities Design and evolve shared Ruby frameworks for APIs, asynchronous jobs, and workflow orchestration.
- •Improve the availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of backend systems.
- •Modernize a large Ruby codebase through architectural changes.
- •Make backend development faster by improving local workflows and iteration speed.
- •Strengthen the scalability and observability of Figma’s asynchronous job platform.
- •Requirements 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building production systems with Ruby.
- •Experience building, maintaining, and evolving large Ruby applications and shared backend codebases.
- •Design reliable distributed systems at production scale.
- •Improve complex, established systems through architecture, modularization, or performance enhancements.
- •Create scalable abstractions and collaborate with and mentor engineers.
