Biologist responsible for biosafety and mosquito colony management at NIH.
- •Axle is seeking a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Biologist to support the Laboratory of Malaria and Vector Research (LMVR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
- •This role involves ensuring biosafety measures and managing mosquito colonies for research purposes.
- •Key Responsibilities Implement biosafety protocols and physical barriers for mosquito containment.
- •Oversee researchers working with infectious agents and vector-borne pathogens.
- •Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for mosquito rearing, manipulation, and taxonomic identification.
- •Conduct experiments involving molecular biology techniques and assist with manuscript preparation.
- •Requirements B.A. or B.S. degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- •Minimum of five (5) years of experience in biology or a related field.
- •Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.
- •Demonstrated experience in rearing and maintaining colonies of genetically modified Anopheline mosquitoes.
- •Knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.
