Lead the development and maintenance of demand forecasting models for a logistics network.
- •Relay's network relies heavily on accurate forecasts for operational efficiency.
- •This role is crucial for building and maintaining the forecasting engine that powers all network operations, from sortation shifts to last-mile routes.
- •Key Responsibilities Own the integrated demand forecast end-to-end, blending live signals with model-generated data.
- •Build complex models for long-horizon forecasting, inbound international volume, and parcel size/weight prediction.
- •Set methodology and validation standards for demand forecasting models.
- •Raise the technical bar by reviewing approaches, making model choices, and mentoring team members.
- •Define the interfaces for demand forecasting outputs to downstream systems.
- •Requirements Proven experience as a technical anchor on a modeling team, owning complex problems and setting standards.
- •Deep track record of building and delivering models from ambiguous starting points, with strong Python and SQL skills.
- •Experience with time-series forecasting across classical statistical approaches, gradient boosting, and deep learning.
- •At least 8 years in a data science or quantitative modeling role, with clear examples of impactful models and technical direction setting.
- •Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate workflow and curious about augmenting the modeling process.
