TL;DR
Design and architect OLTP database systems for a medical technology platform.
- •Heartflow is seeking a Staff Application Database Architect to be the backend database expert for their clinical and operational platform.
- •This role involves designing OLTP schemas, optimizing queries, and influencing architectural direction for data structure, access, and governance.
- •Key Responsibilities Design, build, and own OLTP database systems, including schema design and performance optimization.
- •Drive application data access strategy and ORM best practices for Python/Django services.
- •Own database performance, uptime, capacity, backups, and incident response.
- •Lead transactional data modeling for operational systems.
- •Champion compliance, security, and privacy adhering to FDA, HIPAA, and GDPR standards.
- •Requirements Deep, hands-on expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora) supporting production web applications.
- •Strong experience building backend data layers in Python with expert-level fluency in SQLAlchemy and/or Django ORM.
- •Expert-level data modeling for transactional/OLTP workloads.
- •Experience building data systems in cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- •Experience working with clinical data under regulatory regimes like FDA, HIPAA, and GDPR.
