- •Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Cable Magnets Engineering team.
- •This role involves owning hardware design from concept to delivery, performing analysis, and supporting manufacturing and installation.
- •Key Responsibilities Own cable magnet hardware for SPARC, ARC, or other projects from design to installation.
- •Develop and iterate on design concepts using physics, structural mechanics, and analysis techniques.
- •Liaise with R&D, analysis, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
- •Diagnose and resolve issues on the production and assembly line.
- •Prepare design documentation and validation reports.
- •Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or relevant field.
- •Minimum of 5 years of engineering design and analysis experience, with at least 2 years supporting production hardware.
- •Hands-on experience designing parts for high loads and/or extreme environments.
- •Excellent fundamental knowledge of mechanical systems (static structures, heat transfer).
- •CAD proficiency (NX preferred).
- •FEA proficiency (ANSYS and COMSOL preferred).
