About the role
TL;DR
Engineering internship/co-op to contribute to next-gen energy and powertrain systems.
- •About Brelle Energy for what moves us.
- •Brelle is a venture-backed technology company building the next generation of energy and powertrain systems for the world’s most demanding machines.
- •Our team comes from companies like Rivian, SpaceX, and McLaren, bringing deep expertise in high-performance engineering, electrification, and advanced manufacturing.
- •Brelle develops frontier technology that pushes what’s possible in electrified performance.
- •Based in California, we develop next-generation energy and powertrain technology for supercars and superbikes, working alongside leading high-performance brands across the U.S. and Europe.
- •Our innovations are built on a novel pack architecture, a full-stack software platform, and an advanced approach to automated production.
- •Joining Brelle means working on technology that makes the world’s most demanding vehicles and aircraft lighter, safer, more engaging, and capable of charging in minutes.
- •Our engineering teams operate like small Skunkworks teams: nimble, cross-functional, and highly technical.
- •Engineers are encouraged to explore new concepts and materials, move quickly from concept to prototype, and have significant autonomy to develop, validate, and release their work across programs.
- •We’re building something ambitious in a highly competitive market, and the bar is high.
- •We need people who are exceptional at what they do, take real ownership, and are willing to do what the moment requires.
- •About the Opportunity Brelle welcomes applications from students interested in internship and co-op opportunities across engineering and related technical disciplines.
- •This posting provides a centralized opportunity for us to connect with promising early-career talent and consider candidates for placements aligned with our evolving project and team needs.
- •As an intern or co-op student, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge to real engineering challenges, contribute to the development of next-generation energy and powertrain systems, and learn alongside a team working at the forefront of electrified performance.
- •We’re looking for curious, driven individuals who enjoy solving difficult problems, take ownership of their work, and thrive in a fast-moving, hands-on engineering environment.
- •Areas of Opportunity Depending on your background, technical interests, and the needs of the team, opportunities may span areas such as: Mechanical Engineering & CAD: Create and update 3D models, assemblies, detailed 2D engineering drawings, and mechanical designs; support design iteration and development.
- •Electrical Engineering: Support electrical design, component integration, wiring and harnesses, and related electrical systems.
- •Systems Engineering: Contribute to system architecture, requirements development, component integration, and cross-functional engineering coordination.
- •Prototyping, Testing & Validation: Support prototype builds, test setup and execution, data collection, troubleshooting, and design validation.
- •Manufacturing & Production Engineering: Contribute to design for manufacturability, assembly processes, tooling, production methods, and process improvement.
- •Software & Controls: Support embedded systems, controls, data analysis, automation, and software development for energy and powertrain systems.
- •Specific responsibilities will depend on the placement, your skills, and the projects you support.
- •Not every area will have an active opening at all times.
- •What You'll Bring Current enrollment in a college or university program in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- •Strong technical fundamentals and a genuine interest in building, testing, and improving real-world systems.
- •A hands-on, analytical approach to solving challenging problems, with a willingness to question assumptions and explore better solutions.
- •Initiative, attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
- •The ability to collaborate across disciplines, communicate openly, and consider the broader team’s needs while making meaningful progress independently.
- •The ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute in a fast-moving environment.
- •Relevant technical projects, personal builds, research, laboratory experience, CAD proficiency, programming experience, or previous internships are valuable.
- •Experience with engineering design, prototyping, manufacturing processes, or design for manufacturability may be particularly relevant, depending on the placement.
- •We’re interested in what you’ve built, how you approach problems, and how you apply your skills—not just what’s listed on your resume.
- •Internship & Co-Op Details Placements may be structured as internships or co-op terms, depending on the candidate’s academic program and the needs of the business.
- •Placement duration, start date, schedule, and specific responsibilities will be determined based on the opportunity.
- •Candidates should indicate their field of study, technical interests, anticipated availability, and preferred placement duration when applying.
- •Compensation & Benefits Internship and Co-Op placements are paid positions.
- •Compensation will be determined based on the specific placement, relevant experience, and other applicable factors.
- •Team meals twice a week Monthly team events A well-stocked kitchen with snacks and drinks One-time $500 stipend to help offset expenses during your placement How to Apply Submit your application using the Apply button below.
- •We review applications based on candidates’ skills, technical interests, and alignment with current and anticipated team needs.
