TL;DR

Build and maintain infrastructure, tools, and processes for engineering teams.

•Monzo is looking for a Platform Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable other technology teams to succeed.
•This role involves working on shared infrastructure, services, and engineer tooling, with a focus on Kubernetes, service mesh, and networking.
•Key Responsibilities Build and centrally manage cloud infrastructure, running components like Kubernetes and Envoy across AWS and GCP.
•Abstract away complexity for other platform teams, enabling them to solve real customer problems.
•Enhance and maintain foundational tools and systems, working hands-on with Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, and Terraform.
•Design and implement backend services (APIs, controllers) for a simplified, self-service experience for engineers.
•Develop software for complex projects like infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, or security tooling.
•Requirements Solid foundation in practical software development and a keen interest in modern platform tooling.
•Keen interest in software engineering, demonstrated by writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services.
•Enthusiasm for working with AWS and/or GCP, and with Kubernetes.
•Inclination to solve problems through automation and experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
•Deep curiosity about systems, enjoying diving deep to investigate complex issues and understanding how modern distributed applications fail and scale.
