About the role
TL;DR
Lead the Key Value engineering team at Cockroach Labs.
- •Lead a ~10-engineer team owning the Key Value (KV) layer of CockroachDB, responsible for replication, distributed transactions, and data placement across the database stack.
- •Key Responsibilities Manage and grow the KV engineering team, hiring and coaching engineers.
- •Drive and prioritize a complex multi-quarter technical roadmap across replication, transactions, distribution, and resource management.
- •Coordinate cross-functional interfaces with storage, SQL, backup/restore, and CDC teams.
- •Run multiple large parallel projects and represent the team externally at conferences and talks.
- •Requirements 5+ years managing software engineering teams with proven delivery from prototype to production.
- •Strong technical judgment in distributed systems, replication, and transactions.
- •Experience running complex, multi-project roadmaps and collaborating with product and engineering leadership.
- •Ability to hire, coach, and run performance/growth processes for senior engineers.
