- •Samsara is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to develop software for millions of devices deployed by industrial and enterprise customers.
- •This role involves tackling challenges in hardware evaluation, platform bring-up, data gathering systems, and efficient data analysis.
- •Key Responsibilities Shape hardware by participating in electrical engineer reviews and validating hardware choices.
- •Bring up new platforms and prototypes from virgin silicon, configuring I/O and debugging system initialization.
- •Own core firmware layers including peripheral drivers, secure bootloaders, and device firmware updates.
- •Optimize firmware for power efficiency in battery-powered sensors and gateways.
- •Collaborate with product, full-stack, mobile, and quality engineers to ensure data integrity and usability.
- •Requirements 8+ years of experience building firmware for resource-constrained systems.
- •Fluency in C, with deep understanding of low-level memory and system operations.
- •Substantial bare-metal and RTOS experience (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or equivalent).
- •Proven experience bringing up new hardware boards from initial power-on.
- •Fluency in low-level interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC.
